Home Diving Trip reports North Wales - November 2001

North Wales - November 2001

North Wales - 2nd to 4th November 2001

A mixed-ability group of 12 travelled up to North Wales on Friday 2nd November 2001 for a weekend of diving in Vivian and Dorothea quarries.

Accomodation was at the Llanberis Youth Hostel where everyone slept in a large bunk room and breakfast was self-catered. Saturday's diving was conducted at Vivian Quarry, Llanberis. Vivian has a maximum depth of 18m which makes it ideal for training and assessment dives. Most people managed 3 dives which included a night dive and then it was off to "The Heights" for some dinner and liquid refreshment. On Sunday the group travelled to the western side of Mount Snowdon to dive in Dorothea Quarry. Dorothea is a huge hole in the ground and there is plenty of water for everyone to get in diving and not be disturbed. Again there were training/assessment dives and also a few fun dives, which included Ashley and Darren depositing 'Neil the Gnome' into the Gnome Garden. The trip members managed to flatten the batteries in both of the vehicles, one of which had to be fixed by the AA. Hopefully everyone has now learnt not to leave the internal lights on in the bus!!!!!

Everyone enjoyed the weekend and several qualifications were finished off.

By the end of Sunday we had 1 new Club Diver, 2 new Sports Divers and a Dive Leader assessed and signed up.
