Vobster check out dives - October 2008

Twas a wonderful sunny morning when we set off! Actually as it was only 6.30am when we left Cardiff and it was still dark.... The things we do for the love of our sport!

Jenny in an brazen attempt to bribe the instructors supplied us all with lovely bacon sarnies (brechdanau!) which went down a real treat and fortunately for some of us, some people do not like bacon (it's sick I know) so more for the rest of us!

Our intrepid crew consisted of myself, Mr Bob, Jess, Sophie, Jenny, Jeremy, Daimona, Andy, Ben, and Huw  headed to Vobster Quay; our second home for a day of training and lots of fun.

The aim of the day was to go through basic skills with our new crossovers (Jenny, Jeremy and Daimona) and to have a checkout dive with Ben and Andy. Huw unfortunately was not diving but had come along for the day in order to get his marshalling assessment done for sports diver. Luckily for him it didn't rain at all and the weather was rather pleasant all day, who says British diving is always cold and damp?! And it appears that the curse of it always raining on a trip that Bob is on is finally over! Yay!

The day was a success with everyone getting their assessments done and signed off with the only hiccup encountered was Andy's computer acting up due to a low battery and we even managed to get back to Cardiff at a reasonable time.

Stay tuned for more exciting tales of CUSAC diving!
